Tripura to re-test Covid-19 of Tablighi returnees

Agartala, Apr 3 (UNI) Tripura government has directed the health authority to continue the institutional quarantine of all 53 people who were either directly joined in Tablighi Jammat at Delhi’s Nizamuddin last month or they came to contact with others including their family members and re-test them Covid-19 as per protocol.
About 175 samples including 72 of having a history to visit Covid-19 hotspot Nizamuddin were tested so far have appeared negative. The health department has kept as many as 7405 people under quarantine without any Covid-19 symptoms and the health workers have been asked to monitor their health conditions daily.
“Altogether 26 persons 72 having a history of visiting Nizamuddin from where Covid-19 were spread had joined the Tablighi Jammat and 24 others were identified as their family members. We brought all of them under quarantine and going for a repeat test soon even if they remain asymptomatic of Covid-19 to rule out the possibility of the presence of the virus,” said health secretary Dr Debashis Basu.
He pointed out that Tripura remains as one of the few non-affected Covid-19 states in the country and prevent the entry of coronavirus in the state, the government along with all stakeholders have undertaken stringent measures. The BSF has been asked to maintain strict vigilant on Indo-Bangladesh border and inter-state border with Mizoram and Assam have also been sealed completely.
Dr Basu indicated that some allegations of cross border movement along unfenced stretches of Tripura has been shared with BSF authority and urged them to maintain absolute alert against any bid of cross border movement. Similarly, police have tightened vigilance over inter-state boundary and citizens were also sensitized to keep a close watch on any movement of unknown persons in their locality, he added.
He mentioned that lockdown in Tripura has been passing well with cooperation from the people. There is no shortage of essential and edible commodities in the state and civil supplies department has mobilised plain cloth officials in all the markets of the state to see consumer issues and market price regulation.
