Tripura pursuing 100 more MBBS seats: Chief Minister

Agartala, Jan 17 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced that the state government is actively seeking approval for an additional 100 MBBS seats, which would bring the total number of undergraduate medical seats in Tripura to 450, thereby expanding the scope of medical education in the Northeast.
At present, Tripura has a total of 350 MBBS seats distributed among three medical colleges – Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC), Tripura Medical College, and Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College. Moreover, efforts were underway to obtain clearance for the additional 100 MBBS seats for AGMC.
“We also have a plan for a new medical college in the state to produce more doctors with dependable medical care facilities so that people from other states and countries will come here for treatment, thereby boosting medical tourism in Tripura,” Dr Saha stated.
