Tripura plans to begin work of waterways by PM next month

Agartala, Dec 27 (UNI) Tripura government is planning to begin the formal work for setting up of waterways terminus in the bank of River Gomati in Sonamura, bordering Bangladesh next month by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which targeted to connect Tripura with Meghna River of Bangladesh.
Officials here today said after visiting the proposed site for setting up jetty at Gomati, technical team of Shipping Ministry led by member (Traffic) of Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) Shashi Bhushan Shukla held a meeting with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar and Chief Secretary L K Gupta last evening over the project.
According to report, Chief Minister apprised them about the intention of the state for fast installation of the project because the government to start water transportation of the goods for northeast and to make Tripura as a business hub for the region taking geographical advantage of the state.
