Tripura govt to approach ASI seeking conservation of heritage buildings

Agartala, Dec 18 (UNI) The Tripura government has decided to make a proposal to the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) for conservation of historical architectures of the state, including the110-year-old Ujjayanta palace.
Higher Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath while inaugurating a two-day workshop on ‘Conservation of Cultural Heritage’ at the Tripura State Museum, which was shifted to Ujjayanta palace few years ago, said there was a sharp increase in the number of visitors to the museum after its location was changed.
"Apparently, the importance of the Tripura State Museum has increased manifold after it had been shifted to Ujjayanta palace," Nath stated.
