Tripura Deputy Chief Minister to inaugurate orange festival

Udaipur, Nov11 (UNI) Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma will inaugurate Baramura Orange Festival 2019 at Twibaklai JB School Ground tomorrow under Uttar Baramura ADC village of Killa R D Block, Gomati District here.
Talking with UNI, Superintendent of Agriculture under Killa area has said that a total of 353 numbers farmer are doing orange production here. There are five ADC villages and these are Dakashin Baramura, Uttar Baramura, Darjeeling Bari, Uttar Brajendra Nagar and Joingbari. The farmers from respected village areas are doing orange production at Killa area.
A total of 165 farmers, all the tribal farmers, are producing orange on their 60 hectors land and the maximum orange production has recorded in Uttar Baramura village area. A total of 101 farmers are producing orange at Dakshin Barmura area, 75 numbers farmers under Darjeeling Bari area, 5 farmers under Uttar Brajendra Nagar area and only 3 farmers from Joingbari area are producing orange.
Dr. Animesh Debbarma, BDO Killa R D Block and convener of orange festival committee has said that the preparation is all set on the occasion of this festival.
There will be present Pranajit Singha Roy, Minister Agriculture Department as Chief Guest of the programme. Along with other dignitaries Biplab Ghosh, MLA, Swapan Adhikari, shabhadipati Gomati zilla parishad, Joy Kishore Jamatiya, MDC of TTAADC, Dr. T K Debnath, DM & Collector of Gomati District and others will remain present in the programme.
“It is expecting that this year a total of 980mt orange might be produced here at Killa area. A total of 770mt was the last year’s orange production at this area and this year a total of 1 or 1.20 lakh oranges to be produced at orange festival organized here at Baramura in which at amount of Rs 10 lakh may earn by the farmers.
Not only this but also two group of NGOs are also coming from Ompi R D Block with 18,000 to 20,000 orange with them in order to sell in the festival. The preparation from administration is all set for orange festival”, said D.Majumder, Superintendent of Agriculture for Killa area.
“Though the production of orange is really good this year but the rain in the nick time of Durga Puja and this time in the month of November may affect the production of orange critically. The farmers of Killa area are being expected good income from orange production. The state agriculture department also helps more in case of orange production. The farmers are happy after getting different facilities from the department for orange production and they expect more help from government in future too”, said Jagahari Jamatiya, a farmer who associate with orange production.
It has recorded that a total of 60 hectors area used for the production of orange in the Uttar Baramura ADC village. This year is also taken major initiatives by the department of agriculture under different schemes in order to maximize the orange production here. The farmers who have minimum one hector area for orange production here they have received at amount of Rs 15,000 each for orange production by the government.
A total of Rs 30 lakh has given by the state government for orange production and this is first time in Tripura that the government has allotted that amount of money only for orange production, added Superintendent of Agriculture. The famers are happy after getting the benefits from government in view of encouraging orange production.
