Tripura CM inaugurates 123rd Maharaasyatra festival

Ambassa(Tripura), Nov 12(UNI) On the concluding night of the state's greatest and the five day long Maharaasyatra Fair and Festival at its 123rd edition, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated the Maharaasyatra festival at Baralutma in the bordering subdivision of Kamalpur in the Dhalai here on Tuesday night.
The traditional observation of Maharaasyatra by the Bishnupriya Manipuri community was launched by the then King of Manipuri Bhagyachandra. In accordance with the tradition the community had been observing the religious festivity for last 123 years.
In its latest edition the Chief Minister along with YAS Minister Manoj Kanti Deb, Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Prashanta Sinha, social activists Manorama Deb remained present as the Inaugurator of the festival. He was honoured with the highest social honour of traditional turban by the organizers.

EC suspend 2 Bengal cops in Murshidabad

Kolkata, Apr 20 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has suspended two police officers of OC rank in West Bengal. Those suspended are officers-in charge of Saktipur and Beldanga police stations in Murshidabad district. They failed to contain violence on April 17 in their respective jurisdiction.

Patna, Apr 19 (UNI) Despite best efforts made by Election Commission and appeals from top leaders and celebrities, poll percentage in first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Bihar could reach only 48.23 per cent, which is 5.24 per cent less than polling of 2019 general elections in the state.
