Tripura civil service officers send relief to flood-hit Silchar

Agartala, June 30 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday flagged-off a vehicle loaded with relief materials including food items and other essentials worth Rs 10 lakh for the people of flood-hit Silchar in Assam.
Tripura Civil Service Officers Association has arranged the relief materials from the contribution of the officers and loaded them in a lorry which would reach Silchar under Cachar district on Thursday night
“We were ready with the relief consignment for the last few days, but the road connectivity was not there, as all the entry roads to Silchar had been inundated and many stretches were washed away. Now somehow, we were able to manage a truck that agreed to move,” said Secretary of the association Asim Saha. Appreciating the efforts of the officers in the state cadre, Chief Minister Saha said, “My officers have shown an exceptional gesture to one of our close neighbours in Barak Valley where the people have been suffering from extreme hardship owing to the situation caused by acute floods. We know the relief materials are too small for their need, but we must stand with the people in crisis.”
