Trinamool to organise human chains across Bengal to protest CAA & NRC

Kolkata, Jan 24 (UNI) Trinamool Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee on Friday said the party will create human chains in various parts of the state in protest against the CAA and NRC.
Mr Chatterjee told media persons that party supremo Mamata Banerjee would conduct three rallies in February to protest the CAA and NRC.
Ms Banerjee held a closed door meeting with party functionaries during the day and discussed strategy for the coming civic polls.
Ms Banerjee has reportedly asked its leaders to pep up its campaign against the NRC and CAA throughout the state and reach out to the people with its developmental works in the past eight years.
Earlier, taking strong exception to BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya's comment linking consumption of ''poha'' (flattened rice) with Bangladeshi infiltrators, the Trinamool Congress wondered "whether those making such remarks qualify as humans".
"Those who indulge in such comments about Bengal's culture, tradition and about food habit of the impoverished people, it has to be seen whether they qualify as humans," Chatterjee quipped.
