Puducherry, May 27(UNI) Floral tributes were paid to the first prime minister of the country Pandit Jawharlal Nehru on the occasion of his 57th death anniversary here on Monday.

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayansamy, his cabinet colleagues, Lok Sabha member Vaithilingam, legislators and senior officials of the territorial administration among others garlanded the Nehru statue on behalf of the territorial administration.

Congress functionaries led by PCC president A Namasivayam also garlanded the statue to mark the occasion.

Rich tributes were to a decorated portrait of the leader at a function organized at the Pradesh Congress Committee(PCC) office here in which chief minister and his cabinet colleagues partook.A two minutes silence was also observed on the occasion.
