Tribunal begins genocide probe against Hasina

Dhaka, Aug 15 (UNI) The International Crimes Tribunal's investigation agency initiated a probe on Thursday against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and others, focusing on genocide and crimes against humanity, media reports said.
M Ataur Rahman, deputy director, administration, of the ICT investigation agency said experts have opined that the charges can be put on trial under Sections 3(2) and 4(1)/4(2) of the International Crimes Tribunal Act 1973, English news portal Newage reported.
According to media reports, "The accusation of genocide and crimes against humanity has been recorded as a case. Also, an investigation officer has been appointed in this case, and the agency has started review by collecting newspapers," said Gazi MH Tamim, the lawyer who filed the petition on Wednesday.
