Transsion Holdings to invest Rs 710 cr in India

Ahmedabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Hong Kong based mobile selling company, Transsion Holdings, on Wednesday said that it would invest an additional amount of 100 million US Dollar (over Rs 710 crores) in India in next 2 to 3 years.
Transsion Holding, which manufactures and sales Tecno brand of smartphones and I-tel brand of feature phones in India, has so far invested 30 million US Dollar in the country. It has its sole Indian manufacturing unit in Noida with a capacity of 15 lakh feature phones and 6.5 lakh smart phones.
On the occasion of its latest smart phone 'Tecno spark 4' launch in India, CEO of Transsion India, Arijeet Talapatra said that a large chunk of the 100 million Dollars investment in India would be on research and development (R & D) and starting new Surface-mount technology(SMT) lines.
Mr Talapatra said that the company ensures that the Indian customers mostly the younger ones could get latest features at affordable prizes.

He said that his company's main focus was offline sales and it has so far hold 5 per cent market share in the country.

Mr Talapatra said that the mobile phone market in Asia was growing at a CAGR of 14 per cent. The company had launched its first phone in the country in Gujarat in 2017.

During the festive season it is planning to increase its market share especially in Rs 10 thousand smartphone segment, he added.
