Train service suspended in Kashmir for security reasons

Srinagar, May 24 (UNI) Train service was suspended on Friday for security reasons in the Kashmir valley following killing of two militants, including chief of Ansar Gazwatul Hind Zakir Musa, in an encounter in Pulwama district on Thursday night, official sources said.
An advisory was received late last night to suspended all train runs in the Kashmir valley on Friday, sources told UNI.
Therefore, they said, no train will run on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Trains will not chug on Srinagar-Badgam-Baramulla in north Kashmir track, they added.
Sources said railway authorities are acting on the advice of local administration, particularly police, who are taking decision to suspend train service after keeping in view the safety and security of the passengers and railway property.
In the past railway suffered huge damage when train, railway stations and lighting system were damaged during demonstrations.
Train service has become very popular in the valley since it was very cheap, safe and fast against other mode of transport.
Zakir Musa and another militant were killed in an encounter by security forces at Dadsar Tral in Pulwama last night.
