Train Maintainer and Patrolman ran over by train during Patroling

Bengaluru, Dec 27 (UNI) In a gruesome incident a Train Maintaineer and Patrolman were ran over by train while performing cold weather track patrolling between Varadapura-Bisanatam Railway Stations of Bengaluru-Chennai route today at 0220 hrs. Western Railway (SWR), in a release here on Thursday, said that those ran over were identified as Track Maintainer Hari Singh and Patrolman Ramaswamy.
As a measure of safety, Railway takes up patrolling of the track in the midnight when the temperature falls to certain level to detect if there is any rail / weld failure and thereby to prevent accidents.
Mr Hari Singh Meena, had detected two such failures in the recent past in his service and was awarded by Railway Administration for his sincerity and dedication towards duty. He was accompanied by Ramaswamy who was also run over.
