Tourist from Maharashtra Kalpana Rathi drowns in Teesta after falling from raft in Bengal

Siliguri, Oct 1 (UNI) A visiting tourist from Maharashtra, identifiedas Kalpana Rathi (58) drowned on Monday after her falling from afloating raft in the turbulent Teesta near Melly under Kalimpongdistrict in West Bengal, police said.
A team of 20 vacationers from Maharashtra visiting hills of Darjeelinghad hired four rafting boats for white water sport on Teesta.
However, two of them fell from a raft owing to waves and undercurrent. Both of them were rescued by the divers of the rafts.
However, Kalpana Rathi, who received wounds from rocks and boulders inthe turbulent waters, was taken first into the Melli Hospital and thento Kalimpong hospital where she was declared brought dead.
