Top BJP leaders arrive party HQ, begin process to elect Nadda as new party chief

New Delhi, Jan 20 (UNI) A number of top BJP leaders including from states made a beeline at the party headquarters here on Monday kicking off the process of filing of nomination for election of J P Nadda as the new party president.
A number of nomination papers in favour of Mr Nadda's candidature were filed with senior party leader Radha Mohan Singh, who is the election in charge of the saffron for the organisational polls.
A set of nomination paper was filed by the outgoing president Amit Shah and two other former presidents Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari.
There were several leaders from the states including from north east.
Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton and state unit president Temjen Imna Along were also present.
Talking to reporters, Mr Gadkari exuded hope that Mr Gadkari will take the party to newer heights.
"It was during my tenure as president that Mr Nadda was brought from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi and later also made a party general secretary," Mr Gadkari said.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several Union Ministers also came to BJP headquarters to submit nomination papers in favour of Mr Nadda.
Final announcement regarding Mr Nadda's election as president will be made around 1430 hours, party sources said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to felicitate Mr Nadda, who will be eleventh BJP chief.
