To promote horticulture, Haryana govt providing subsidy to farmers for planting new orchards

Chandigarh, Nov 7 (UNI) In view of high risk and cost involved in traditional farming, the Haryana Government is providing 50 per cent per hectare subsidy to the farmers for planting new orchards so that they can earn more profit by adopting horticulture.
The State government is providing a subsidy of Rs 11,500 for planting guava orchards, Rs 12,000 for lemon orchards and Rs 15,000 for amla orchards. Under this scheme, a farmer can plant an orchard up to 10 acres of land, an official spokesperson said here on Sunday.
He said several schemes are being implemented by the Horticulture Department to double the income of the farmers and encourage them towards horticulture. Horticulture insurance scheme is being run by the government to compensate for horticulture crop losses. This scheme will prove to be effective in compensating the crop expenditure to farmers by making their horticulture crops risk-free from natural calamities.
