Chennai, Apr 21 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) on
Sunday officially announced that the voter turn out in the April 19
single phase polling to 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu was
69.72 per cent.
A release from the ECI Secretariat issued today said of the total
6.23 crore electorate, that included 3.06 men and 3.17 crore women,
a total of 4.34 electorate have cast their ballots.
This is included 2.12 crore men and 2.21 women and that the total
turn out in the Lok Sabha polls was 69.72 per cent.
This was nearly three per cent less as against 72.47 per cent voter
turnout recorded in 2019 LS polls.
He said for the second successive polls, Dharmapuri registered the highest
turnout of 81.20% (82.47 in 2019) and Chennai Central, the lowest at 53.96%.
Apart from Dharmapuri, a total of 22 constituencies have recorded a voter
turn out of 70 per cent above,14 constituencies 60 per cent and above
while Chennai South and Chennai Central recorded less than 55 per cent
polling.
