TN govt to bear educational expenses of wards of workers killed in cracker unit fire

Chennai, Nov 10 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government will bear the educational expenses of the children of those working in various cracker manufacturing in the event of their death due to fire mishaps, Chief Minister M K Stalin announced at a government function in Virudhunagar on
Sunday.
Responding to the requests made by cracker unit workers when he met them yesterday, Mr Stalin said the government will bear the full expenses up to higher education of the children of workers
in the event of their death.
To ensure that this assistance was provided locally, he also announced setting up of a separate
wing headed by the District Collector.
As a first step, the government would provide an assistance of Rs five crore to this special finance wing, he added.
Mr Stalin also announced a slew of new schemes for the benefit of the people of the district, including a new SIPCOT Industrial Park at Aruppukkottai in a 400 acre area at cost of Rs 350 crore, which would provide jobs to about 10,000 youths in this region.

Well Marked Low Pressure heads towards south TN, to weaken

will move towards South Tamil Nadu coast and weaken gradually, promising
heavy rains in three southern districts, where a Red Alert has been issued.
