TN get five new districts, notified in govt gazette

Chennai, Nov 13 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today issued
a gazette notification for the formation of five new districts in the
State, taking the total number of districts from 32 to 37.
In line with the announcements made by Chief Minister Edappadi
K Palaniswami in the State Assembly, the government issued the
notification for five new districts and new collectors would be
appointed soon.
Since January 2019, the government announced creation of five
new districts in the State, to fulfill the longtime requests of people
and to ensure better administration.
In January, he announced the carving out of the district of
Kallakurichi from Villuppuram and in July, the government
had notified two new districts, Chengalpattu and Tenkasi,
carving out of Kancheepuram and Tirunelveli respectively.
In August, Mr Palaniswami announced that Vellore district
would be trifurcated to create Ranipet and Tirupattur.
The Gazette released today said Vellore, Anaicut, Katpadi,
Gudiyatham, Pernampet, K V Kuppam taluks will come under
Vellore district.
Two revenue divisions--Vellore and Gudiyatham have been
created in Vellore district.
Similarly in Tirupattur district, Tirupattur and Vaniyambadi
have been created as revenue divisions.
The Tirupattur district will comprise of Tirupattur, Vaniyambadi,
Naattrampalli and Ambur taluks.
In Ranipet district, Ranipet and Arakkonam will act as revenue
divisions and will comprise of Arcot, Nemmili, Walajabad and
Arakkonam taluks.
The Kanchipuram district will comprise of Uthiramerur, Sriperumbudur,
Wallajabad and Kundrathur Taluks. Kanchipuram and Sriperumbudur
will act as the revenue divisions.
The newly formed Chengalpattu district will have three revenue divisions
--Chengalpattu, Madurantakam and Tambaram.
The new district will comprise of Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Pallavaram,
Vandalur, Madurantakam, Thirukazhukundram, Cheyyur and Thiruporur

The gazette also said the Tirunelveli district will have
Palayamkottai, Maanur, Nanguneri, Cheranmahadevi, Radhapuram,
Ambasamudram and Thisayanvila as taluks.
Similarly, the newly formed Tenkasi district will have
Sankarankovil, Shencottah, Kadayanallur, Sivagiri, V K
Pudhur, Thiruvengadam and Alangulam taluks.
