Puducherry, Dec 13 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu State Coastal Security Group has alerted Puducherry of a possible illegal ferrying of 65 Sri Lankan Tamils to Australia from Puducherry or Karaikal on December 14.
According to the message received by the Coastal Security Puducherry, there is a possibility of illegal ferrying of 65 Sri Lankan Tamils from a French speaking area on December 14 through fishing boats to Christian Island of Australia. It is presumed that the area may be Puducherry or Karaikal.
Following this,Puducherry Coastal Security Force has alerted all to take proper preventive measures such as to sensitise fisher folk of Puducherry and Karaikal, Railway station and Bus stands may be closely watched for the movement of Sri Lankan Tamil people in groups and to pay day and night special attention on coastal areas among others.
