TMC activist shot dead, two others receive bullet injuries in Malda

Kolkata, Jan 14 (UNI) A Trinamool Congress activist was shot dead and two others, including the TMC Block President of Kaliachak, were injured when some gunmen shot them from a close range in Malda district on Tuesday, Police said.
The crime happened at Nawada Jadupur under Kaliachak Block No. 1 when the gunmen shot indiscriminately at a group, who were engaged in laying foundation stones of sewerage and a new road system at around 8:30 to 9 AM.
In the shootout, TMC activist Hasan Sheikh was fatally wounded and Party block President Bakul Sheikh and one of his associates were critically injured.
Later Hasan succumbed to his bullet wounds in a local hospital. The condition of Bakul was critical, sources added.
TMC's Sujapur MLA Md Abdul Gani described the incident as a factional feud for the supremacy of the area.
Police began an investigation and so far no one has been arrested in this connection.
The crime occurred 12 days after the TMC leader Dulal Sarkar, a close associate of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was shot dead at English Bazar of the district near his house in the morning hours.
In the Dulal Sarkar murder case, among others Narendra Nath Tiwari, a TMC leader was arrested.

ECoR records over 84 pc online railway ticket bookings
