Thunderstorm line moving from Punjab-Haryana towards Himachal; IMD warns of heavy rain, lightning & strong winds

Panchkula, June 11 (UNI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Himachal Pradesh Centre, has issued a weather alert warning that a squall line stretching from Punjab to Haryana is moving eastward and is likely to affect several parts of Himachal Pradesh over the next three hours.
According to the IMD, the advancing weather system is expected to bring fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across many parts of the state, particularly in the plains and mid-hill regions, including Shimla city and adjoining areas.
The department has forecast wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph in several locations. Residents have been advised to remain cautious as thunderstorm activity is expected to intensify during the evening hours.
