Three more tests positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya

Shillong, Jul 13 (UNI) Two patients in the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) and one BSF trooper tested positive for COVID-19 as on Monday morning in Meghalaya, Health and Family Welfare Minister A L Hek informed.
With these three new detections, the total number of active cases in the State has climbed up to 259 as of now.
The overall COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya stands at 309 with 45 patients have so far recovered patients while two have died of the virulent virus.
Shillong Urban Agglomeration which is reported 95 percent of active COVID-19 cases is under ‘Lockdown of the virus through Behaviour Change’ on Monday and Tuesday for tracing the contacts of the positive persons who are in Shillong so that further spread may be contained
“The situation is grim and the government has taken all precautionary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19,” Hek said, urging the people to avoid coming out of the houses unnecessarily.
Meanwhile, there is a rapid increase of active COVID-19 cases in NEIGRIHMS with two more patents taking the total active cases to nine.
