Visakhapatnam, Sep 22 (UNI) Three Olive green dressed Maoists including two women were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the reserve forest area near Madimalli area under Gummarevula Panchayat of GK Veedhi Mandal in the district on Sunday.
The incident took place when the CPI (Maoist) Party are celebrating the 15th formation day of the outfit from September 21.
The incident also coincides with the completion of exactly one year of the then Araku Valley MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and the former Araku Valley MLA Siveri Soma by the Maoists near Livitput under Dumbriguda Mandal in Vizag Agency on September 23 last year.
Based on the intelligence reports on the presence of the Maoists in Vizag Agency, intensified the combing operations, police said here.
The exchange of fire lasted for over 30 minutes before some Maoists escaped into the forest, police said.
Confirming the death of three Maoists in the exchange of fire, Vizag Rural Police Chief Babujee Attada said that the deceased Maoists are yet to be identified.
The security forces have recovered weapons and few others from the incident spot.
The greyhounds, special police, CRPF are continuing search operation and there are chances for many more Maoists got injured in exchange of Fire.
