ParliamentPosted at: Jul 28 2016 9:45PM Three institutes to build ocean atmospheric model for enhanced predictionNew Delhi, Jul 28 (UNI) With an objective to enhance prediction of monsoon rainfall and temperature, three institutes have embarked upon to build an ocean atmospheric model under the National Monsoon Mission initiative, the Lok Sabha was informed today.The three institutes Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad and National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), NOIDA will start the state-of-the-art model so that forecast skill gets quantitatively improved further for operational services of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Minister of State for Science, Technology and Earth Sciences, Y S Chowdary said in a written reply.He also said under the model prediction of monsoon rainfall on extended range to seasonal time scale of 16 days to one season will be improved and prediction of temperature, rainfall and extreme weather events on short to medium range time scale up to 15 days will be improved.Please log in to get detailed story.Tags: #Three institutes to build ocean atmospheric model for enhanced prediction
