Three Indian movies make to Hollywood Int'l CineFest 2017

New Delhi, Jun 22 (UNI) Making a mark at the international level, three Indian movies have been nominated for the best foreign features category in Hollywood CineFest this year. Director Rakesh Kumar debut feature 'After Ever After' is in the line up of the CineFest and two out of five films in the Best Foreign (Feature) category are from India. 'After Ever After' (Best Feature, English), is a story about the protagonist, Nik Pate, who struggles to cope with the terminal illness of his 9-year-old daughter. A chance encounter with an Alzheimer patient helps him come to terms with the harsh realities of life. Based on his personal experiences, the film is a story of human endurance against insurmountable odds. Rakesh Kumar was born in the northern state of Bihar and for him life never was a fairytale- as we understand it. Akshay Prem Vyas’s debut feature Kaaya (Hindi) and Nilesh Batra’s Rainbow Fields (Assamese) are competing in the Best Feature (Foreign) category. 'Rainbow Fields' by National Award Winner is a sensitive portrayal about children growing up amid violence , which leaves an indelible mark in their psyche and influences their destines. The film is semi-autobiographical in nature, being inspired by true incidents from the director’s life. It stars Victor Banerjee, Nakul Vaid, Naved Aslam, Nipon Goswami and Nikumoni Barua, besides supermodel Dipannita Sharma. Akshay Prem Vyas’s 'Kaaya' is a Drama and Horror feature film. The festival, to be held on June 24 and June 25 in Los Angeles received over 400 submissions. The line-up includes Before The Fall (Cambodia’s entry to 2017 Oscars) and films from the US, the UK, China, India, South Korea and Hong Kong. UNI SHS SDR 1925
