Three girls drown in quarry pond

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 2 (UNI) Three girls studying plus one were drowned in an abandoned quarry pond at Pallikkal in Madavoor near Aattingal on Sunday evening.

The deceased were identified as Sainaba (15), Jumana (16), and Shihana (16), police said.

The trio were here as part of the 'Umra' journey with their relatives. The incident occurred when the three along with other two girls went to the quarry pond to take a bath in the evening.

The other two girls who managed to escape informed the people who rushed to the spot and fished out two bodies with the help of fire force personnel. However, one more body is yet to be traced.
