Thane, Jan 24 (UNI) Thousands of farmers from Maharashtra who left Nashik for Mumbai have arrived at Sahapur in Thane district on Sunday and are on their onward journey towards Mumbai.
All India Kisan Sabha's (AIKS) Maharashtra unit began a statewide Vehicle March of 15,000 farmers from Nashik to Mumbai on Saturday January 23 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The March began from the Golf Club Maidan in Nashik in hundreds of tempos, pick ups and other vehicles. Many other farmers will join on the way.
An official release by the AIKS stated on Sunday that A large public meeting held before the march began was addressed by AIKS national president Dr Ashok Dhawale, CITU national vice president D L Karad, AIDWA national general secretary Mariam Dhawale, CPI(M) MLA and CITU state secretary Vinod Nikole, AIKS state president Kisan Gujar, AIKS state general secretary Dr Ajit Nawale, AIKS state joint secretary Sunil Malusare, DYFI state general secretary Preethy Sekhar and SFI state vice president Kavita Vare.
