Those preparing DPR are also responsible for accidents: Gadkari

New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) Showing concern over the increase in number of road accidents in the country, Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today said due to fault in road designing, accidents were taking place and those preparing the detailed project report (DPR) should be held responsible for the same.
Mr Gadkari said a driver was always held responsible for accidents and punished, but several times the design of the roads were ignored. It was time responsibility was fixed and officials punished accordingly.
He said he was in favour of amending law to hold officials responsible, who prepare DPRs without any study.
