Things are easier in Bollywood for star kids than outsiders: Esha Gupta

Things are easier in Bollywood for star kids than outsiders: Esha Gupta

By Sanya Pandey

New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Actress Esha Gupta who has established a niche for herself in a variety of roles in Bollywood, says that while its easier for a star kid to get work in the industry rather than an outsider, it is hard work and perseverance that helps one succeed. Talking to UNI, Esha who features in Milan Luthria's 'Baadshaho' said, 'Its quite easy these days for a star child to get work because despite their flops, there will be relative of theirs who will produce a film for them." However, those who are good as actors really become successful. "Like we have Emraan Hashmi or Alia as an actor. There is nepotism which makes it really difficult for an outsider like me, but you will succeed if you are hard working and have perseverance.' In the town along with the co-stars Emraan Hashmi, Ileana D'Cruz and Ajay Devgn to promote her movie which is an Indian period heist action thriller film, Esha recently faced criticism for sharing a bold photoshoot on her Instagram account. Esha said that she was surprised to notice that women were among the majority of the trolls. 'The way people shoot pictures in clothes, I did it without them. What is the big deal in this? It was a beautiful photoshoot. The reason I disabled the comments section is because I realised that more than men, women were writing random things about me. Regressive men were writing things like She's uncultured, Not an Indian, What do her parents think?. I don't know what all they were writing. These comments never bother me actually," Esha said. The actress who is often trolled for her dusky complexion and who turned down an offer to endorse a fairness product said,"You know there is a problem in India. 95 per cent of the girls in the country are brown. As actors, we have the responsibility to not endorse fairness products. By endorsing such products, what we are conveying is that only if you are fair, you will get a job or a boyfriend or everything in the world. It's like saying you can go climb the Mount Everest only if you are fair. In a country where even a Honey Singh wrote a song called 'Brown Girl', you are only endorsing fairness products. I have faced criticism for this opinion. I have even faced criticism for not looking like an Indian. Now, I am a mix of Punjabi, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. People make me feel bad about the way I look.' UNI PY/AR ADG 1105
