There will never be another: B-Town condoles death of ad guru Alyque Padamsee

New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) Bollywood fraternity on Saturday condoled the death of noted ad film maker Alyque Padamsee, saying he was an advertising genius and there will never be another.

Bollywood celebrities took to micro-blogging site Twitter to condole the death of Padamsee.

Actor Boman Irani said,'Saddened to hear of the passing of Ad Guru and Theatre doyen #AlyquePadamsee.He gave me my first break in Theatre, like countless before and after me.Maverick, Unique, Uncompromising. There will never be another..RIP Alyque.'

Manisha Koirala said,'Saddened to hear of the passing of a friend,Ad Guru and master in theatre .. what a legacy he has left behind!!'

Producer and Fashion photographer Atul Kasbekar said,'Saddened to hear of the passing of advertising doyen #AlyquePadamsee When he was head of Lintas he’d given me some of my early breaks in advertising photography Ever grateful for the break and opportunity RIP Sir'.

Jaaved Jaaferi said,'An advertising genius, a master theatre director and a vociferous social activist who inspired people to fight for justice, and with whom I was fortunate enough to work under and be a friend passed away leaving behind a legacy.RIP #AlyquePadamsee.'

Padamsee was best known for his role as Muhammad Ali Jinnah in 1982 historical drama "Gandhi".



He was the brain behind several iconic Indian ad campaigns including Lalitaji for Surf, the Liril girl, Cherry Charlie for Cherry Blossom Shoe Polish, Hamara Bajaj, the MRF muscle man among many other memorable ads.



As the head of Lintas India, he was credited for building it into one of the top advertising agencies in the country.



Padmashri awardee, he was known for his contributions to the creative field and was named 'Advertising Man of the Century' by The Advertising Club in Mumbai.
