Theatre Olympics fame ‘Tamasha Na Hua’ to enthrall Delhi again

New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) One of the select plays chosen for the eighth Theatre Olympics, ‘Tamasha Na Hua’ is set to enchant the Delhi audience again, as the play directed by the veteran Bhanu Bharti is set to win hearts at Shri Ram Centre, Mandi House, on August 27-28 from 1900 hrs onwards.

A production from the much loved theatre group Aaj-Rangmandal, the play was first staged to commemorate Tagore’s 150th Anniversary in 2011 and brings parts of his famous play Mukta-Dhara alive on stage.

Written and directed by the celebrated Shri Bhanu Bharti, the man at the helm of Aaj-Rangamandal, ‘Tamasha Na Hua’ is a play depicting the diversified ideology of freedom.

“I am delighted to present a part of my heart through this play. It is my tribute to the epoch-reaching vision of Tagore. ‘Tamasha Na Hua’ is a modern take on Mukta-Dhara, one of Tagore’s most celebrated works, and explores the many ideas that formed the basis of Tagore’s literary accomplishments,” Bhanu Bharti, Director and Playwright, Aaj-Rangmandal said.

“In ‘Tamasha Na Hua’, Mukta-Dhara forms the backdrop against which the ideas and philosophy of Tagore are projected. The setting is very contemporary and the debate is much relevant to the times we are in. It is time we introspect and reflect what freedom means to each one of us,” Mr Bharti said.

“The strong debate between Gandhi’s versus Tagore’s ideas of nationalism, a burning topic in the present day and age, Tamasha Na Hua is our chance to retrospect independence and contemplating our economic and political affiliation affecting our social standpoint” he said.

Starring some of the most notable names from National School of Drama, theatre veterans named Ravi Khanvilkar (Once Upon a time in Mumbaai fame), Teekam Joshi, Nalini R Joshi and the Yuva Puraskar winning actor Daksha Sharma.

Leading the team of extraordinary and multidimensional actors, the Nandikar, Bhanu Bharti has set forth on a journey of thought-provoking storytelling through his play.

Showcased at the 8th Theatre Olympics organized by The National School of Drama, during 17th February to 8th April this year, ‘Tamasha Na Hua’ received massive ovation after each show.

And this time the official booking partner is observing great rush in people to book their seats to experience creative storytelling with impeccable direction.

“For any artist being on stage is a great feeling coupled with joy and fear. You always want to stand up to the expectations of your audiences, and that can happen only through a collaboration of great actors and even great director. Our team has both. We have rehearsed with all our heart, and I believe when we will stage ‘Tamasha Na Hua’, the warmth of our dedication and love for the play will touch the hearts across the thrust stage and hook them till the curtains drop”, said Ravi Khanvilkar (in as Actor in ‘Tamash Na Hua’).

Aaj-Rangamandal, converging urban and the tribal actors is continuously endeavouring to put forward innovative and thought-provoking work.

For years they have been hosting a theatre festival of their in-house productions in Delhi attracting play aficionados from all over the city and international delegates.

Some of its most acclaimed productions are Pashugayatri, Amar Beej, Kal Katha, Katha Kahi Ek Jale Ped Ne, Naachni, Mahamayi, Dehantar, and Bapu etc.
