Thane court acquits two of murder charge

Thane, Sep 18 (UNI) Two persons from the powerloom town of Bhiwandi who were tried in a murder case were given the benefit of doubts and acquitted by the district court here on Saturday.
The Principal District and Sessions Judge AL Pansare writing the judgement today noted that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove the charges against the accused persons beyond reasonable doubts and hence they need to be acquitted he said.
The accused who were tried for the offences and acquitted were Santosh Chanappa Sajan @ Santya Chor, 36 and Mahesh Bikhu Thorat, 31, both drivers residing in Kamathghar of Bhiwandi.

No FIR yet against Sameer Wankhede: Home Minister Patil

Mumbai, Oct 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil on Monday stated that no FIR has been filed yet against the NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, accused of seeking bribe in the cruise drugs case.

Talking to media persons here, he told, “Prabhakar Shail, a witness in the cruise case, had filed an affidavit which I have gone through. Nobody came forward to file an FIR, that is why FIR was not registered.”
“But, Shail had gone to the Sahar police station, but what happened there I am not aware. I will collect information in the matter,” he added.
