Thailand considering connecting Renang Port to Kolkata Port to ease export

Kolkata, Sep 10 (UNI) With an eye on curtailing time and cost of export to India, Thailand is developing its Renang Port near Phuket and considering to connect it to Kolkata Port.
Interacting with media at the Bengal Chambers here, Mr Thardol Thongruang, Minister Counselor, Office of Commercial affairs, hoped of making the port operational in the next one to two years.
Mr Thongruang said the Renang port was operational around five years ago, but it stopped operating due to lower volume of exports to India from Thailand.
