Tense situation prevails in Yanam

Puducherry,Oct 13 (UNI) A tense situation prevailed in Yanam region of the Union Territory as the Lt Governor Kiran Bedi was visiting the region for inspection on Monday, ignoring the threat of Tourism minister Malladi Krishna Rao of agitations against her visit, official sources said here on Sunday.
Additional police force has been deployed from Andhra Pradesh to meet the situation, they further said.
It may be noted that Mr Rao,opposed her visit alleging that she had blocked several developmental schemes for the region and threatened to organise agitations if she visits Yanam without sanctioning the implementation of the projects she blocked.
Nearly one thousand people would protest by wearing black shirts, showing placards and erect banners with slogan ''Go Back Kiren Bedi'', the sources added.
