Ten arrested, 175 kg ganja seized in Andhra Pradesh

Eluru Nov 12 (UNI) The police seized 175 KGs of ganja, worth Rs nine lakh and arrested 10 people at Ashram hospital near here.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, DSP O Dilip Kiran said that on a tip off, a police team led by CI A Srinivasa Rao and SI Chava Suresh carried out checking of vehicles.
They found 175 KGs of ganja was being trasported in two cars. They purchased the cannabis in the agency areas of Visakhapatnam district at a cheaper price and transporting it to Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
They arrested 10 people and seized the Ganja and two cars. However, the main persons in the gang managed to escape and search was launched to nab them, the DSP said.

According to Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd (KBJNL ) Sources ,the Lal Bahadur Shastri reservoir (Almatti) in Vijayapura district is just two metres shy of reaching full reservoir level (FRL).

Active principle’ from turmeric improves cancer therapy outcomes: IIT-Madras

Chennai, July 13 (UNI) Researchers at the Indian Institute of
Technology-Madras (IIT-M) have shown that the active principle
from turmeric and curcumin could enhance cancer cell death
caused by a protein called ‘TRAIL.’
There have been considerable efforts in developing therapeutic
agents that trigger apoptotic death of cancer cells.
One such agent that has been found promising is a protein called
‘TNF-Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand’ (TRAIL). Its ability to
selectively kill cancer cells by ‘apoptosis’ has resulted in a number
of preclinical studies being carried out all over the world, a release
from IIT-M said today.
