Temporary failures do not mean success is not waiting, PM tells students

New Delhi, Jan 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday exhorted the students to add enthusiasm in life and not to get disheartened with any setback as temporary failures do not mean success is far off or would not come.
'We can add enthusiasm to every aspect of life. A temporary setback doesn’t mean success is not waiting. In fact, a setback may mean the best is yet to come,' said Mr Modi in his address at 'Pariksha Pe Charcha 2020'.
He gave illustrations from cricket matches wherein Indian players could overcome setbacks and turn bad patches into moments of glory.
"Do you remember the India-Australia test series in 2001? Our cricket team was facing setbacks. The mood was not very good. But, in those moments can we ever forget what Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman did. They turned the match around," the Prime Minister said.
"Similarly, who can forget Anil Kumble bowling with an injury. This is the power of motivation and positive thinking," he said.
Setting a friendly tone in his address, the Prime Minister asked the students to be frank and friendly while interacting with him.
'Keeping up with today's fashion of hashtag 'WithoutFilter', there should not be any filter in our discussions. Speak to me like you talk to a friend", the Prime Minister said.
"Let this discussion also be free, light-hearted and interesting," he said.
He said motivation, demotivation are very common and everyone goes through these feelings.
Mr Modi said,'In this regard, I can never forget my visit to ISRO during Chadrayaan and the time spent with our hardworking scientists'.
He said mistakes may be committed but that should not deter them from achieving new milestones.
'We may even make mistakes. And, in my case, if I make a mistake the friends in the media will love it too,' he said taking potshots at the fourth estate.
'As Prime Minister one gets to attend numerous types of programme. Each of them provides a new set of experiences. But, if someone asks me what is that one programme that touches your heart the most, I would say it is this one,' he said.
He said he loves attending Hackathons as they showcase the power and talent of India’s youth.
'Whatever the country will do in this decade, this year’s class 10, 12 students will contribute the most to it", he said.

Earlier, Mr Modi in his tweet said, 'It is always a delight to connect with India’s youth. Their energy and vibrancy are unparalleled. Today we would talk about numerous subjects relating to exams and even life beyond exams.'
The third edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha was organised at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in Delhi. A total of 2,000 students and teachers attended the event, of which 1,050 students have been selected through an essay competition.
