Telangana sees highest single-day spike of 985 nCov cases, tally crosses 12,000-mark

Hyderabad, Jun 26 (UNI) With the highest single-day spike of 985 +ve cases reported in the last 24 hours, Telangana’s COVID-19 count reached 12,349 on Friday.
With the Covid-19 positivity rate in the state hovering higher than the national average, a Central team led by Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal, will be visiting Telangana on Saturday to coordinate with the state officials and also review the measures undertaken by the state government for containment.
The state also reported seven deaths in the last 24 hours, which pushed the death toll to 237, state Medical and Health authorities said in a bulletin released here tonight.
Spike in Covid-19 cases continued in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits as on Friday recorded 774 cases – biggest jump in single-day followed by Rangareddy (86 +ve cases), Medchal (53), Warangala-Urban (20) and Medak (9) among other districts in the state.
On recovery, 78 patients were discharged on Friday and with this , the number of discharged cases rose to 4,766 while the number of active cases in the state was 7,436, the bulletin added.
As per the bulletin, a total of 4,374 samples were tested on Friday ,of which 3,389 were negative while 985 came positive.
Overall, since the outbreak of the pandemic, Telangana has tested a total of 75,308 samples, of them 12,349 samples came positive and 62,959 samples were negative.
