Telangana inks ‘Sister State Partnership Agreement’ with New Jersey

Hyderabad, Sep 18 (UNI) The states of Telangana and New Jersey have signed a ‘Sister State Partnership Agreement’ here on Wednesday..

The agreement was signed by Chief Secretary SK Joshi and New Jersey State Governor in the presence of IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao.

The agreement was signed to strengthen the partnership and good relationship between the people of the states of New Jersey and Telangana.

The agreement facilitates cooperation in areas of economic development such as IT, Pharma & Life Sciences, Biotech, Fintech, Media, Data Centres, Clean Energy, Higher Education, Tourism, Culture, and Healthcare sectors.

The agreement will encourage continued discussions, develop programs and activities of mutual interest amongst the people of New Jersey and Telangana.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rama Rao said that Telangana would benefit in several sectors with this sister-state agreement. He stated that a lot of Telugu people reside in New Jersey and he too was a resident of New Jersey for a brief period.

Appreciating the investor-friendly policies of the state, New Jersey State Governor Phil Murphy said that Telangana is suitable for global businesses.

US Consular Chief Eric Alexander and Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan were present in the program.

Staffs test positive for corona : SRly closes HQ for 2 days

Chennai, May 28 (UNI) The Southern Railway today announced
that the office of its headquarters in the city would be closed here
two days following reports that some officers and staff members
have tested positive for coronavirus.
Southern Railway sources said the headquarters, housing the
offices of the Southern Railway General Manager, Additional
General Manager and Principal Heads of Departments, would
be closed for two days (today and tomorrow) to disinfect the
premises, according to a note issued by the Deputy Chief
Personal Officer.
