Telangana Govt imposes ban on sale & use of firecrackers

Hyderabad, Nov 13 (UNI) Acting on the Order of Telangana High Court on Thursday, the state government has imposed ban on sale and use of firecrackers with immediate effect.
It may be noted here that the High Court had directed the state government to immediately ban the sale and use of fireworks by the people and organisations and clampdown and close the shops which are selling fireworks throughout the state.
The High Court has further issued directions to appeal to people, both through Print, Press and Electronic Media, to refrain from bursting firecrackers, so as to prevent any further deterioration in Air quality.
A Government Order (GO) here on Friday said that the government after careful consideration of the matter and keeping in view the directions of the High Court, hereby impose ban on sale and use of firecrackers by the people and organisations, with immediate effect.
The Director General of Police, / Director General, Fire Services, Telangana and all Collectors & District Magistrates / Commissioners of Police / Superintendents of Police in the state shall take immediate action to close the shops, which are selling fireworks throughout the state and the steps taken in this regard shall be informed to the government by November 16.
The Commissioner & Ex-Officio Principal Secretary to Government, I & PR Department shall issue an appeal to people, through the Print, Press and Electronic Media, to refrain from bursting firecrackers, the GO added.
