Telangana Governor approves HYDRA Ordinance

Hyderabad, Oct 5, 2024 (UNI) Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma approved the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) Ordinance on Saturday, legalizing the state government's initiative to protect ponds, canals, and other water bodies from encroachments.
The Governor signed the ordinance, and the official Gazette notification was released the same day.
The HYDRA Ordinance empowers the state government to tackle illegal encroachments on water bodies, granting HYDRA authority to demolish unauthorized structures on ponds and canals within the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones. HYDRA was established through Government Order (GO) 99 on July 19, 2024, and has already taken action against numerous illegal structures.
