Telangana: Congress will face public backlash if poll promises remain unfulfilled: Koonamneni

Hanamkonda, Jun 16 (UNI) CPI Telangana Secretary and Kothagudem MLA Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao on Tuesday warned that the Congress government would face a public backlash if it failed to fulfil the promises made during the Assembly elections, particularly those related to housing and land rights for the poor.
Speaking after inaugurating the CPI office named 'Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy Nagar' at the Gundlasingaram land struggle centre in Hanamkonda, along with CPI State Assistant Secretary Takkallapalli Srinivasa Rao, Koonamneni said the Congress had promised Indiramma houses for all eligible poor families and land pattas under GO 58 for those living on government lands, but these assurances were yet to be implemented.
He pointed out that lakhs of poor families in the state remained homeless and said it was unfortunate that the living conditions of the poor had not significantly improved even after 75 years of Independence. He demanded that the government issue pattas to families residing in huts on lands secured through struggles led by the CPI.
