TDP urges govt to save farmers as crops worth Rs 9,720 Cr damaged

Vijayawada, Nov 27 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party AP State President K. Atchannaidu on Friday urged Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to rescue the farmers from the heavy crop losses they suffered under the impact of the Nivar cyclone in the State.
Mr. Atchannaidu wrote a letter to the Chief Minister stating that crops in thousands of acres were still under water. Over Rs.9,720 crore worth crops were damaged in the heavy rains and floods from August to October.
Stating that the Nivar cyclone caused an irrecoverable blow to the farmers, the TDP leader said that the Government should make arrangements for buying the damaged crops by offering remunerative prices. There was a greater need to rescue the farmers who were badly hit because of repeated natural disasters in the past few months.
