Taxi driver from Thane gets 10 yrs in jail for rape on minor neighbour

Thane, Mar 4 (UNI) A 56-year-old taxi driver was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by the district court here on Thursday for raping his neighbour's minor daughter in May 2018.
Additional public prosecutor Vijay Mundhe told the court that accused Abdul Husenmiya Shaikh and the victim (then eight years old) resided in the same building in Khan compound at Shil Phata of Thane.
On ill-fated day of May 14, 2018, while the girl was playing in the compound of the building, Shaikh called her aside and took her to an isolated place in the staircase of the building and raped her. He then threatened her not to reveal anything to anyone.
