Tata Steel to organise Bhubaneswar Half Marathon to commemorate National Youth Day

Bhubaneswar, Nov 14 (UNI Tata Steel, in association with Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department, will organize the 3rd edition of Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Half Marathon- 2018 on
January 14 next to commemorate National Youth Day.
Director-cum- Addl Secretary, Sports and Youth Services Department Vineel Krishna Tata
Steel vice president Sunil Bhaskaran told newspersons here that that the company endeavours
to make the Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Half Marathon one of the key running events in India
Covering a distance of 21.1 km, the half marathon will start from Kalinga stadium, towards
Khandagiri Square and return to culminate at the stadium.
In addition, a 10 Km run for men and women for 16 years and above and a 5 Km run for
boys and girls under the age of 16 years and born after January 14, 2002 will be organized.
State-of- the-art technology consisting of Timing Mats and its control units, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips, split timing mats on route, tracking camera, wi-fi network on route
as per international standard will be used to follow world-class standards at the marathon.
Awards worth Rs 8,64,000 will be given to winners of different categories, with the highest
prize money of Rs 1,00,000 going to each of the winners in the (men and women races) of
the 21.1km run.
