Tata Sky launches Gujarati cinema service

Ahmedabad, Nov 6 (UNI) The leading content distribution network, Tata Sky on Wednesday announced the launch of its seventh regional language cinema service, this time in Gujarati.

Addressing a press conference here the Chief Content Officer of Tata Sky, Arun Unni said that partnering with one of the leading movie content providers – Shemaroo, Tata Sky Gujarati Cinema launches with 800+ hours of Gujarati content that includes a ready line-up of 160+ movies and 250+ plays that will cater to both urban and rural audiences. The library also contains ancillary content including comedy and cookery shows, devotional songs and chat shows featuring top stars of Gujarati cinema.

The new service available at channel number 1703 at our platform at a monthly subscription of Rs 45 will bring an uninterrupted entertainment experience for viewers with ad-free access to high quality blockbuster and critically acclaimed movies and plays including a mega star cast. It also offers two new Gujarati movie and play premieres every month that have never been seen before on television. It is also available on Tata Sky Mobile App., he said.

He said that the company after initial feedback would include more movies and other items in the kitty of the Gujarati cinema service. Currently it has blockbuster movies like- Grand Hali, Chor Bani Thangat Kare, Natsmarat, Chutti Jashe Chakka etc. Other chartbuster movies that are a part of the library include Kachindo, Nakkamma, My Dear Babuchak, Fakebook Dhamaal, among others.

Actor Ami Trivedi, during the launch, said, “It is a very interesting phase for Gujarati Cinema as the industry is experimenting with new themes and highlighting social issues in the process. I love the idea of having a single platform to enjoy the best of old and new films and plays that the industry has to offer, thanks to Tata Sky Gujarati Cinema.”

Tata Sky earlier released six such regional services in Tamil, Telugu, Bhojpuri, Bangla, Punjabi and Marathi.
