Dhaka, Oct 26 (UNI) Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will miss the India tour due to personal reasons, Bangladesh Cricket Board informed on Saturday.
Tamim informed the BCB of his unavailability for the tour, where they play 3 T20s and two Tests in India in November, citing the expected birth of his second child as the reason for his withdrawal. The board has also confirmed that a replacement for Tamim will be announced soon.
BCB had brought in Imrul Kayes to the preparation camp but he hasn't officially been announced as the replacement opener for now.
'Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal Khan has pulled himself out of the Tour of India on personal grounds,' said a BCB press release. 'Tamim had communicated his reasons for wanting to miss the tour and the Board has accepted the request. The BCB will name a replacement for Tamim shortly,.'
Tamim struggled with his form in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, scoring only 21 runs.
Bangladesh play three Twenty20 internationals and two Test matches on their tour of India, scheduled from November 3-26.
