Taiwan Expo from May 16

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) With the aim to increase trade relations with India and attract Indian tourists, Taiwan will organise a trade fair from May 16 which will see the participation of industrialists, businessmen and government department officials of the island country.
The Taiwan Expo has so far been successfully held in countries targeted in our New Southbound Policy for two consecutive years.
To continue to promote cooperation and exchanges with these countries, and to assist manufacturers to expand in those markets, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will continue to hold the Taiwan Expo in 2019 under commission by the Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
In 2018, first ever Taiwan Expo was held in India, which attracted more than 18,000 visitors and successfully showcased Taiwan’s diverse strengths in economic, trade, technology, culture and tourism.
The three-day exhibition, from May16-18, will present Taiwan’s diverse strengths in the fields of economic, trade, culture and education.
Additionally, it will be accompanied by a series of activities such as business-matching and industrial seminars to promote Taiwan’s overall image and to foster more cooperation and exchanges between Taiwan and India.
Karen Pai, Deputy Executive Director of the Council, said that this trade fair will help strengthen trade relations between the two countries. Trade relations between India and Taiwan are increasingly growing.
This trade fair is based on Taiwan's 'New Policy Focusing on the South'.

He said that both the countries can enhance cooperation in the field of industrial agriculture, health care, education culture and tourism.
In the recent years, there has been a significant increase in trade between Taiwan and India and it is both in import and export. Investment between the two countries has also increased.

According to the figures, the total trade between Taiwan and India was the highest in the last five years in 2018 and it has increased by 10.87 per cent compared to 2017. For two consecutive years, India was Taiwan's 16th largest trading partner.
