T-police to hold Martyrs’ Memorial Run on Oct 16

Hyderabad, Oct 9 (UNI) For remembering the sacrifices made by the Men and women of police forces in the country, Telangana Police will conduct the first Indian Police Martyrs' Memorial Run (IPMMR) on October 16.
This Martyr's Memorial Run is being organized by Telangana Police in association with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Talking to newsmen here today, Director General of Police Anurag Sharma said the Martyr's Memorial Run will be in three categories-- 2 K, 5K AND 10 K with more than 5000 participants to take part. People will have an opportunity to run along with police personnel from various police forces in the country. Telangana State Police plans to make the Run an annual calendar event, he said.
He said an Expo will also be held at People's Plaza in Necklace Road for all partner Police Forces to create awareness of the activities of various wings of the police. During the event, police equipment., weaponry, fleet will be displayed in the stalls.
The DGP said “ The First Indian Police Martyrs' memorial Run is to pay respects to the officers who laid their lives in the line of duty and honour their sacrifices wtih involvement of citizens. This Run is an endeavor by the police forces to build community engagement and positive interface with citizens and registration for the run at select police stations is one such attempt. We request citizens to participate in this solemn occasion and joint us to share our respects”, Mr Sharma said.
The registration charges for 2K: Rs. 250; 5K: Rs. 300 & 10K: Rs. 350 and can be paid at select police stations or online ( as well.
The Run across all three categories will start and end at People Plaza and every finisher will get a medal, he added.
The Martyrs' Memorial run is the culmination of different activities being undertaken in the state that including essay, painting , photography commotions, blood donation camps besides having short films and best news coverage on police in print and TV media as well.
The prizes for all these different competitions will be given by Chief Minister K Chandhrasekar Rao on October 21, the Police Commemoration Day.
