T-govt to launch Electric Vehicle policy on Jun 29

Hyderabad, Jun 9 (UNI) To reduce carbon foot print and encourage Electrical vehicles, the Telangana
government would unveil the Electric Vehicles (EV) policy on June 29.

The policy would facilitate production of the vehicles in the state and their mandatory use by all the government departments.

The State government pursuing a very comprensive electric vehicle policy and we have set to launch it on June 29, Telangana Government IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said at a meeting held in connection with launching of STAMP ( Station Access and Mobility Programme) organized jointly by WRI India Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) here on Saturday.

The government would support EV in a bigway, he said and appreciated the Hyderabad Metro Rail which
announced that they are in creating EV charging stations in all metro stations.

The policy would spell out benefits the State government would extend to support manufacturing of the vehicles as well as components besides in the field of battery technology and telematics.


Electric vehicle adoption on a mass scale has assumed significance in the country against the back drop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi setting a 2030 deadline for registration of only EVs.


While addressing at the meeting, Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Managing Director Mr NVS Reddy said that
Electric Vehicle (EV) charging facilities would come up at all the metro stations in next 15 days and it will be first operational near Miyapur.

Out of 64 metro stations, 24 stations have been commissioned, he said it is a first-of-its-kind initiative in the
country to reduce carbon footprint, promote EVs for energy security and to tackle the climate change.

L and T Metro Rail had earlier signed a pact with Power Grid Corproation of India Limited to develop EV charging stations.
